Halifax Regional Search & Rescue course in April.

What: Global Positioning System (GPS) Navigation Course

When: Sunday April 21, 2013 - 9 am to 5 pm

Cost: $40.00 - Free for volunteer GSAR - your energy and time

Where: Halifax Regional Search & Rescue base

116 Lakeview Rd., Lakeview, Nova Scotia (Between Lower Sackville and Waverly)

Contact: [email protected] www.halifaxsar.ca/learn

The session will be a combination of classroom and practical field exercises. The morning
will be spent learning the tools and the afternoon applying them. Be prepared to be in the
woods. You will need a GPS + spare batteries, boots that will keep your feet dry and
warm, layered clothing (no cotton or blue jeans) and a wind/ water outer layer. Expect to
be active when in the field and engaged in solving the age old problem….” where am I ?”

Prerequisite: Be confident with your basic map & compass skills.

Like to take that and the map and compass course, just to far for the 3 trips and the wrong time for me.
Any one know if something like this is offered in Truro area?
Good way to meet some new people as well.
