Just got my first apples out yesterday, wondering if most others hunt over apples and if so have you started dropping them yet? Anyone had luck using anything besides apples?

I've had wild drop apples out for a couple weeks now and the deer have been cleaning them up. Carrots usually work better for me though so I'll be switching over now that they are more available.

I used to only use apples ,but quite a few years ago i started mixing in a few carrots and the deer started eating them.I haul my apples/carrots back to my stand in a large frame pack , so i usually only take back 50-60 pounds a couple times a week .(Its about a 20 minute walk into my stand and thats a heavy enough load for an old guy like me :) )

Had apples out for about 2 weeks now. Went to check one of my cams the other day and watched a young 8 pointer at the apple pile. Around these parts it'd be hard to get a deer without using any kind of bait. And when you think of all the does that eat the apples you put out, your helping them beef up for the winter and making things a bit easier for them.

No apples, no bait of any kind, no trail cam.

Old school hunting, like my grandfathers taught me, and I'm teaching my son.

I don't put anything out, however. I hunt an old orchard and there is lots there.
