She Was A Lady !

Mom says-time to go.She puts down her hammer and climbs off the roof,an hour later my brother was born!
YEAH THAT WAS MY MOM.
Born and raised in the country she grew up hunting and fishing, woods travel was just second nature to her.Guess she grew up being somewhat of a "tom boy " Of course she got married had us four kids and "tamed down "somewhat.Raised us kids the old fashion way; you know back hander when needed and it stung.Now- not like when Dad smacked you and your head bounced off the wall, but it stung!yeah Mom was strict but fair.Loving, caring, giving and supportive, she raised us all and played no favorites, she ( and Dad) treated us all the same.Always the first on the scene when any family or friends suffered a hardship.
Always there for us all and I like to think we were raised right, don't lie, cheat or steal, respect others and their ways and of course; don't talk back to or sauce your parents!
Monday in a small country graveyard I shall kneel down and place my Mother's ashes in the cold, cold ground beside my Dad.Hopefully I'll have the strength to stand back up without the help of others.
So this fall (and probably many to follow) when I head for the woods, well I'll travel through my Mother's favourite spots.Up to Snake Springs, down through the plaster pits, across to Green Pt,then in the sawdust road to Hardwood hill and back to Sterling Brook and follow it down Jacques Rd to Ernies. And maybe, just maybe I'll catch a glimpse of Mom and Dad as l travel through the woods of Hants County!
Now -I don't want anyone to get the wrong impression about my Mom; yeah she liked to hunt and fish and worked right beside Dad building the house and such but
SHE WAS A LADY a real lady and SHE WAS MY ROCK!!!
Found this among some of her things-
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free
Miss me a little but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me,but let me go
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone
It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to Home
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me, but let me go.

Sorry for your loss. >Pete
Deer zones in Nova Scotia need to be reduced in size and micro managed by DNR. Zone 107 is too big!! It needs to be cut in half with the Shubie River as a boundry. Areas on the Hant Co side should not be either sex but bucks only with a doe draw, in my opinion. >Pete
