Can anyone give me some information on the Fur Harvesters Course, any info welcome as I know nothing about it. Some of the things I'd like to know are: course duration, what is covered, do they actually show you how to set traps and snares (hands on). I'd like to get into coyote trapping and wondering if this course will teach me the basics.

Regards

The courses are done in a single day; approved traps are discussed, demonstrated, and handled, and approved trapsets are discussed and demonstrated. Each student gets a take-home manual that includes the current list of approved traps and the how-to of approved trapsets. So, yes, the course will teach you the basics.

Typically, one of these is held at the (DNR) Whycocomagh office. The cost is $46. If you sign up now (via the website), they'll contact you when your course is scheduled.

TANS has a mentor program each year if funding gets approved . Under education you will see mentor. Fill out and send in and indicate your interest in coyotes . They will try and match you with a coyote trapper . There is no cost for mentoring .
