20 guage

I recently acquired an 20 guage lee loader and im not sure what wads and powder to get. I like shooting 3" #6 long range and have hulls from browning 3" and remington express 2 3/4". Id love to have something that patterns close to theese factory shells. So what wads would be best. Also the reloading book i have calls for long range powder. Should i try and track this down or would imr blue work as i have a lb of that?

1 oz of shot...18 gr of Longshot will give him 1220 fps for those gun clubs ( from Hogs data site)
Makes sense to hold on to them mac. Thanks kevin thats awesome. I have the lee load all thats bench mounted. If you have any hulls and or wads youd be willing to sell that would be great. I havnt been able to find any 20g hulls locally and am not 100% sure what to order or where from. I have 2 boxes of w 209 primers and 1 box of cci 209 primers
All the Browning shells I have ( 4 cases or so starting out ) were made by Olin/Winchester. They're the new 2 pc HS design...all 6 pt crimp too !
Correct me if wrong but they don't have lines in the walls on the outside like his pic and are shiny unlike the pic??
I stand corrected Joe my RCBS book shows one only 1 1/8 load for the 20 ga Federal 2 3/4 inch paper base hulls as well as three 1 1/8 oz loads for the Fiocci 2 3/4 inch hulls with the plastic base wad

Have never tried either so have no idea just know I could not do it with winchesteres or remington at the time without fiber wads and not a common thing to do with a 20ga 2 3/4
those above loads all use blue dot powder...Fed 209 and Win 209 primers

No shock there on the old blue dot
I have the data here for those 3 in Browning hulls (( IF they're Winchester HS style )) just look inside you should see a white cup sitting in the bottom...coming up the side of the hull about 5/8 inch
See if these pics come out...

THIS DATA IS FOR 3 INCH WIN AA HS HULLS ONLY !!!

Not many options HS-7 has been gone since 2006
Great reloading information:

Question one: what type of shotgun are you using, what barrel length and what choke(s) do you have?

What are you hunting? Ducks? Grouse? Pheasant? Woodcook? ????

What kind of shotgun are you using?

What is your normal shooting distance?

Do you normally shoot gun up or gun down?

Apologize for the questions as load recipes may vary.

The 20 guage i want to reload for is an ithica xl900.
I usually shoot between 10 and 25 yards. Id say i shoot gun down but im not 100% what that means haha
I don't know anyone that walks through the woods with your shotgun mounted....lol

Walking through the woods with gun mounted would be a safety hazard. I would be tripping over my own boots!

Yep but fixed choke are they not which makes patterning difficult

Yes . I think they were available with fixed full and mod and possibly ic chokes . I would have look in one of my books to 100% sure .they also came in a couple different barrel lengths.

I have worked on a few maybe 5 or 6 over the years in 20ga and both were mod and full
So does anybody know where i can order wads, shot and or longshot powder?
