Here is the new shooting schedule out for the Atlantic region for 2023.
I have 19 selected that I'm really hoping to make it to this year. Maybe...just maybe another 1 or 2 out of towners in PEI or NB. About 2000+ rounds at the competitions...
Not counting the 1000 or more rounds the grand sons and I will shoot at Nova Sporting this year. Gonna be a blast !! Literally !!

Hmmmm...a new acquaintance or an old friend ?? don't matter...either way, be sure to say hello in Lunenburg. Be great to put a face to a name !!!
ALL systems are GO !! Can't wait !!!

Today in Lunenburg, is the 1st leg of the four part NOVA SERIES.
This series is well known around the province and is well supported. Been ongoing for 20+ years !!! It's a big boost for the hosting clubs, and the cherry on top is that someone will win a new Browning Sporting Clay gun thru a draw at the finale !!!!! There is an event gun given away at each shoot...past has been a Winchester Wildcat 22 LR.

Great chance to meet up with old friends once again, and have a laff at your own shortcomings ...and they will be there, TRUST ME LOL.
GOU...be sure to make it a point to say Hi !!

The 2nd leg will be in Kentville in 2 weeks, 3rd leg in Yarmouth and the finale in Weymouth (both in June)

Anyone can shoot this series, pre-registration is required to be squadded up. Easily done thru Bayside Shooting Sports website. One shoot will give you one ticket for the gun draw, you'll receive 2 more if you attend the second shoot, 3 more for the 3rd shoot and 4 more for the last one.
Come out, giver a try, be a part of a great sporting clay event and show off your skills ( if ya got em...lmao))
Best of luck to all who are attending...see you there !!!

Best of luck today Kevin in the shoot Man I wish we had something like this down here I know 100% I would be buried in it like you
Had a visit this week from a old skeet member looking for hulls and I asked what for club is gone Guess 5 or 6 of the boys are shooting somewhere and trying to get more shooters to see if they can get that so called new set up underway that has been talked about for years now I promised I would return in July once flower season is over to help if I could if they are still doing this Yep have to clean the old 28ga wingmaster pump :) that has fired a million rounds and is so smooth
Cheers
Great shoot yesterday in Lunenburg .124 shooters took on the 100 target course .with the HOA being a 91 of 100 targets . And 3 shooters being tyed at 90 for runner up . I finished with a 71 five targets behind Kevin at 76 . All in all a great day on the range .

Nothing wrong with those scores Nice job But remember Kevin is an old man now with old eyes he says :D
Man...what a day, what a shoot, what a crowd !!! Somewhere's in the vicinity of 13,000 targets thrown yesterday ! Not counting what was thrown in the course prepping and target finalization.

BIG shout out to all the volunteers who set up the course !!! WELL DONE Lunenburg Rod and Gun Club !

IIRC, there were 23 or 24 brand new shooters to this series. Out of the 124 shooters, only 12 shot under 50% !! Quite a good stat when you think about it !
1st leg over and judging by the banter , cursing and laughter, a good time was had by all who shot !

Slightly off Topic but I figure this is the best place to get an answer - What choke tube should I be using for clays? One of these days I really want to get out to a shoot but now I'm thinking about the gear I have. The gun I'd most likely use is my SXP that uses Invector choke tubes. I'd like to get an extended choke if I can as it's only a 28" barrel. I usually hunt with Modified but what should I get for clays?
Imp cyl , light mod or mod will for work for clays . Personally I love a light mod choke in a single barrel gun .for my o/u I run a IC in the bottom barrel and a light mod in the top for sporting clays .for skeet I will switch to a skeet choke and if shooting trap I generally go with full choke .

Thanks for the info Rembolt, Hope to get out to an event and meet you some day!
Spencer....come up to Nova Sporting Clays some Sunday thru the summer with us. Very informal..always good for a laff or 2(( at your expense of course...lmao)) It'll cost you 15 bucks for non members to shoot and .50 per clay target. We usually shoot 100 + / round. You can buy your target ammo from the club too if you don't have any.

I have a few guns for you to use too if you want..couple of Citori's O/U in 12 and 20..couple of semis too also 12 and 20. Mist fun you'll have with your clothes on !!!

Lloyd nailed it on the choke tube question. I run the same setup...as do lots of others. The extended choke also offers your barrel muzzle protection from accidental bumps and dings in the safe or the woods !!
Kev - You’ve got the bug in my ear lol….I’ll definitely join you guys one of these Sundays. It’s something I’ve wanted to get into for a while now!
Sounds good bud ! If the bug bites you as bad as it did my buddy Glen...you're in trouble..ha ha ha
Couple weeks before we went for his 1st trip...he made a gun cart. He went to two shoots....he got a new Citori CXS ...new vest...new Maxus semi...hes bought a couple of throwers....bout 10 flats of shells....lmao...yea..he got bit hard 😁😁

Oh trust me, I already considered selling my Field model SXP to upgrade to the Upland Field model. Same gun, just a little nicer LOL. BUT.....I probably should use what I have for the first little bit and then buy myself a Nice O/U or Semi if I start shooting regularly.....Best of luck in the next shoot fellas, I'll get there some day!
I have yet to go to a club to do some skeet shooting. I have a couple friends that are regulars at the Lunenburg Gun Club. I have gone to a few shoots put on by people in gravel pits and backyards. I have a Browning Maxus Golden Sporting Clays with an extended skeet choke. Can't hit anything with it. LOL. The one I am deadly with is my Browning BPS with a full choke. Don't ask me why, but I do very well with that shotgun

Hello Buckmark the BPS must fit you very well ,not all guns fit the shooter an this will give you a bad sight picture so the best thing is to try different guns at these fun shoots , most people don,t mind letting others try out their guns I know I don,t and what better excuse do you need to buy another gun.
Come to one of the hwwa range days. Chat with a bunch of different people, have lunch, shoot a few clays. We have 2 throwers, one remote controlled and another manual foot stomp, that get used to humble most. It even gets used to introduce new shooters to the sport and shooting in general.
Its usually rifle in the morning and shotgun in the afternoon but exception can be made when the smoke poles are there
We usually have a supply of ammo and a limited number of different shotguns to try.

Yes we do and I believe we have a summer shoot coming up in July or August. The Summer Hummer I call it the one last year was about 30 in the shade. Coffee or tea anyone, at that shoot the HWWA had lots of bottled water and watermelon slices. At this writing we have about 300 plus clays and over 125 plus rounds of 20ga and the same for 12, plus a generous amount of 22's always a good time.

BPS is one of the guns that many have issues with fitting me included seems my arms are too short vs the old remingtons just go right where they should :)
Sunday could be a soaker for the upcoming 2nd leg of the Nova Series. It'll be held in Lunenburg once again and NOT in Kentville as previously announced ( due to CFO glitch)
Better put on your fowl weather gear Mark...lol me and the rain seem to work ok together...lol
