Cannot find an official release but it is being said that Alliant has no plans to ship ANY powder to canada in 2023 and that they stopped making 8ooX
So if you see some and use it I would grab it
Prehaps Kevin you can ask Ross next time you talk to him if this is true I see he has ZERO stock of any Alliant powders as we speak

Youre probably 100 % right Tim !! Pickling cukes were on avg 2.99 lb last year with a few sales at 2.29 and 2.49. Used close to 175 lbs of just them !!
Silverskin onions were gone since covid..1.69 lb prior ...last year was the first time that we found them since covid....5.99 lb !!!!
Needless to day I never bought my 20 lbs !!!

Cost me over 75 bucks to make my beets last year Like 18 I think and I had the beets in my garden But did use new bottles since many were for gifts
The newer Challengers do in fact have a higher base on them. They actually resize better in my P & W than the short brass Cheds. I dug out some of my "old" stuff last yr...I had 150 old AA's with the real small 1/8th or 3/16 brass base...loaded em up with a 1225 fps skeet load...quite a few of em split down past the petals...hoarded too long I believe (whooo me ?? LOL) reloaded what I could the second go round...same thing. Put the remaining few into my semi can for the grand kids to shoot and toss.

I still have a few thousand of the original AA compression formed hulls...red and silver/white...might be time to give them a visit and see how they'll react ??
Have never seen old hulls break down from being stashed unless sunlight hits them and I have some 50 years old , paper base wads yes one has to watch since the bases will break down inside
My guess on your hulls were and you may remember this about 25 years ago winchester changed the plastic composition and the new ones had a shine to them not a gloss like a HS but a shine
Those split terrible after one firing and I think so bad they gave out the lot numbers so one would know not to reload them
The best aa are the blacks which are rare now trap handicap think they were 16 reloads was a norm vs 6-8 out of the red and the reds with the sold copper primer In fact any AA with the solid copper primer
I think those 20 ga you got from me were like that Did they reload OK
If you need 12ga AA I must have 15,000 of them of all colors but keeping the black and new silver which lasts better than the first silver
Cheers
Best winchester hull ever made for reloading and we tested them all over the years They say color believe it or not does make a difference in the plastic composition

Haven't seen them boxes for quite some time Joe. When I did, they were all MT...buddy wanted 15 bucks ea for them at a gun show...lol He had quite a few older vintage boxes...rifle, shotshell, pistol. I managed to get him down to where I wanted to be on a nice old Winchester ammo wooden crate. Seen them selling for 5 times what I paid for it back then.

Yep some boxes are big money I sold off my rare ones on e-bay years ago when I seen what they were going for remember the old two piece ones they got me close to 150/ 200 bucks each US for ones in 410 and 28ga ( small guage big money it seems )I have two of the original remimngton wooden ammo crates in real nice shape like your winchester but keeping them and hate to say it but maybe four of the old cil ones in the garage with nails in them :)
I kept a tote full of the cardboard shotshell boxes just to keep reloaded shells in and I bet right now some are collectable since most are 25 years old now
take care
Collectors for everything some here and what they go for

LIke look at this one unreal in US dollars

Why I never reloaded challenger or any non compression formed hull other than steel 12 and 10ga

My favorite of all time remington 12ga to reload and still have a few 1000 stashed those and the blue peters Man we are old Kevin you must have reloaded both of those also

Another favorite but only have a few in 12ga my BUD :) found me the motherr load of Activ however new in 16ga from Ross and I bought them

The favorite goose load before steel kept a few boxes since they love coyotes also :)

Ok I will stop now could go on for a hour I think :D
Finally the old mans favorite to reload for 12ga the paper federals I hated them

I find 800X to be really versatile, just meters bad since so coarse.
There is data for 1oz 12Ga loads all the up to buck and slug loads in Lyman manuals even 20Ga skeet loads that worked quite well this past Winter for my Son.
I cleaned JD's out of SR4756 & SR7625 when discontinued now 800X? :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Agree on the metering big time
Take care and don't eat any of that bad lead :)
I lucked out last year on a stash of 4756 man if the atrticle is true Canada goin to dry up quick for reloaders and there favorite powders..
I've had one Fed TG and 1 challenger separate like that Joe ! Had some 28 ga Fed's that split off above where the wad seal was and went out the barrel like the old cut shells !! Apparently that's a common occurence for Federals.
Got a good supply of new Actives 12 and 20 ga got some wads too ! I loaded 100 of O/F actives a few months ago..1 1/8 oz 1250 fps...nice load ! Past winter, I picked up 200 new Remington Blue Peters and 175 that were once or twice fired (( MY FAVS )) plus 300 Fed paper hulls that were supposed to be fired once only...some of those papers were fired at least twice or more I figure ! Loaded all the paper hulls and used maybe half of em...mannn I love the smell of them old paper hulls...lol

Waitin for some of the New Federal HOA ammo to come back in stock. Compression formed 1 pc TAPERED hull !! Federals first crack at a tapered hull ! I want a case of it ...for loading with all them tapered wads I have...lol

That is like finding a block of gold finding 200 new remington blue magic. Did not know federal was offering a tapered hull since they have always been straight wall and about time they went compression formed I am going to have to search out a box now also just to take one apart and see what it is like I try even now to keep a sample of every hull out there in case I ever reload them vs just the lyman book( s)
An old guy told be 40 years ago to do this since many times they change base wad heights and screw things up on you and he was right
Some of that collection here I cut them in half so I can check the base wad and keep an eye on the wall thickness when they cheapen many and splits start when they never did prior Winchester is bad for doing that

Cheers

For me if loading buck or slug I hand weigh as I want to be careful as they are quite stout loads.
16 grains for 20 ga is a pain though.
Lead is golden...

No sir. Maybe 3 bags of 12 ga 2 3/4 and 2 of 3 inch and two of 20ga but a lot of 16ga. :) Never used the activ wad that much since they were more money back in the day than the others and it was all about cost in those days to keep the round as cheap as one could but still quality Nice to see the old blue ones again Thanks for sharing :)
My guess on the 16ga at least a dozen bags and what ever is left in this tote :)
Cheers

Be interestring to see how they reload Have not checked any reviews on them for that but will once I get some time Funny even though I have not been into it for years now like I was I still get excited when new hulls come out Wish they would open that new club here I would 100% start again big time but also wish they were smart enough to put the money into a sporting clays set up not trap and skeet which is dying out it seems across canada vs the sporting clays which is growing
Must be in our blood my friend :) that reloading excitement
What I did find out so far is they are just Burgundy Remington STS hulls badged Federal HOA since vista owns remington now with different wads only vs the sts .( per the boys on the shotgun forum )
take care
