Must be the sign of the times to stay fresh and new, and keep selling but damn guns are going out of production it seems quicker all the time. Even the past 10 years models/versions of guns I bought new are no longer made.

I have 8 basements being dug next to my hunting camp, hunting camp she is no more. Figure I still could snag a few with a bow before it all gets populated. A piece of wood lot only 9 acres went up for sale next to me, no listed road, no chance of power ever being put in, 1 mile off the road. I put an offer in to purchase for the wood etc. It sold for roughly $9000 an acre, good grief, my taxes are going to go crazy. The crazy thing is the property was bought four years ago at a normal price for $7500. The world has gone mad.
Man that went cheap , vacant land in middle of no where , no road in , no power , zippo is going $20,000-60,000 for acre or two at best . Piece I want to buy is 10 acres on side of the ocean $200,000 for it , old half grown in road no power no nothing . we were thinking sell both properties and build smaller house for jus t us since empty nest now . But cripes cheaper to just keep status quo
Used BPS's are about the only thing that hasn't gone through the roof.
I paid 600 new for every one of mine so like others gone up big time IMO

No but the best lever is beyond a doubt the Winchester 94.

I was always a Winchester guy but over the years I drug Marlins home. They made some fine stuff. Now I am torn. I am usually in the woods with a Winchester or a Marlin. Have some nice Brownings but they do not get the same hunt time.

Shame , Shame , Shame on you ! Lmao

I've never even handled a modern Marlin but the 336 is supposed to be a great rifle from what I read. If they handle as nicely as a Winchester Model 94 they must be a joy to carry. IMO the '94 I have is hands down the nicest carrying rifle I've ever handled. Lovely balance and light but solid.
I agree the Model 94 is the best rifle to carry in your hand, great balance.

The only two Winchesters that get ample hunt time for me now is the 307's and 356's. In early 2008 Marlin produced a limited time their 308 and 338 express rifles, simular to the model 64 Winchester with short mag tube. They are flat shooting rifles out to 400 yards. I bought two 308's the SS model and the blued model. Never came across the 338. Crazy accurate, beautifully balanced. Today they are crazy money. I also have a few 44's, Winchester and Marlin. The Marlins have won that category sorry to say. A favorite of mine is the Marlin cow boy action octagon barrel, and a Marlin SS model. They seem to be better balanced for me than the Winchester 44"s, and a tad more accurate with home loads. It may be the weight difference, Marlins always feel heaver.
I like the Marlin, except the cord of wood they left on when making the fore-arm....Winchester 94 32 Special is my preference,, but I also like and use the 30-30 as well, just fine firearms.
Here's a picture of my grandfather and his best friend ever, taken in 1963 at his home, the last deer that they got together. My grandfather died in 1968 and he was 87 so he would of been 82 in this picture. He was using his 32 Special and his friend was using a 30-30,, both Winchester 94's.
I was fortune enough to inherit his 32 Special, made in 1910. He bought it when they built the #7 going down through Aspen and Goshen he said back in early 20's. bought it at the corner store corner of #7 and the Blue Mountain Rd. Tried out a 30-30 and a 303 and this 32 special, he decided to take the 32 because it had the most kick of them all. He claimed if they didn't kick it didn't have much power, leave it where it is. My grandfather is the guy on the right wearing red. his buddy wearing the brown. Imagine wearing a brown suede jacket today in the woods.
Oh yea, paid $12.98 for it and said he haggled a box of shells for it and was told he got a deal,, not so sure about that he said at the time,, it was used. lol

Yes they are nice to carry but for me the 94’s are just too short. My arms are too long for the style of rifle.

What a brute. It kind of reminded me of this one I took with a Winchester 307.
Damm! That's one big bodied buck.

Times have certainly changed since that picture was taken, and not necessarily for the better.
I like seeing pictures from back then, thanks for posting
