My stepson and FIL both have dual fuel Firmans. I wanted to buy one, but they were all sold out around here when I was looking. Firman is a good brand. I ended up buying a dual fuel Benchmark 11,500 watt. Neither of us has used the propane side of it yet … but it’s nice to have that option.
I forgot to tell you. Last week I took a day and fit wheels and a handle on that new to me honda I picked up and said christ it has been a month maybe I should take that new firman out of the box and get it going so I did
Never even heard of them here really before this post but glad you shared since I could see nothing wrong with it and it started right up and ran great
Time will tell. Only thing I noticed is it stumbled for a minute or so when I switched to propane but once it seemed to get the flow it was fine
Thanks again
SIL was so impressed she just had another from costco delivered here and I have to get that one running for her
I am shocked they are made in the USA also which works for this old yank
Cheers

So we were out today for a Hike to a local well know trail that is Ground Zero where Fiona came ashore , damage out this way is very extreme , Shore lines are changed beyond recognition in many places Just the road sides alone between Main- a- Dieu and Louisbourg looks like a bomb exploded and most trees are if not all in some places are either flattened , damaged or snapped like twigs , some trees are as much as 25-30 inches thick . Shorelines have as much as 12-16 inches of top soils removed or rolled up in chunks and thrown a hundred or more yards away . Posted this to show just one area of what we called Ground Zero where is smashed up Cape Breton lower coastline in a way that will be prevelant for yrs to come .

Look up the aerial pics from Mt Thom ...incredible amount of damage. Never be the same again. This forest fire season could bring total devastation to a LOT of areas...some will be uncontrollable I bet !

Huge amount of damage on Mt Thom and Pictou County in general, fire fire season could be real bad here.

I see on the news that CBRM landfill is over run with Fiona wood debris....there's LOADS of already cut firewood all over that site...why wouldn't they allow the public to come in and pick up / cut up whatever they wanted for their own firewood ?? Should take some of the excess off the pile I think, would it not, are people still burning wood like they used to ?? orrr has the heat pump almost drove them into extinction ?

Sounds like a good idea to me. But I'll bet they are worried about liability so would never do it.

Why would anyone want the wood from the CBRM landfill , Can drive 15 mins from any direction and load up your truck from Fiona Damage road side , took off b4 first light to head country side , there is tons of cut up stuff left road side from just clearing the power lines alone , never mind what is laying there snapped off

What a waste of firewood makes me sick.Heat pumps arent all they cracked up to be wait till nsp gets these hikes and then more to come.Watch the tables turn once again.Nsp had an electric baseboard heat incentive back in the 70's similar to the heatpump incentive today.NSP always comes out on top u can be sure of that.I dont own a heat pump cant stand the things and dont see it happening till i can no longer work up my firewood.By then there will be a "new and improved "heating appliance and there will be mountains of heatpumps being "recycled"

Look at that video can you imagine how many people could heat their homes? There has to be a way the government could step in regarding liability costs and allow some of the public to assist with not only the landfill space but the rising cost of heating😬Literally makes me sick to my stomach to see this going to waste

When it comes to the mass amounts of trees piled up at CBRM landfill ,

1st and foremost they have a large mass scale wood chipper on site , why they are making a mole outta a mountain when they chip all the demo debris for wood pile and mix it in nails and all into the compost piles they give away 2 times a yr and even that is a effort to go thru in order to get that given away .

2nd they have strict policy of no materials may be removed from the landfill unless your one of the workers who drag away anything and everything they want to some extent , the public is banned from doing that very thing tho .

3rd there are people here crying on daily basis to have wood from Fiona hauled away and CBRM is no longer accepting certain types yard debris , most trees and brush there is contractor or home owner cut all ready , when Fiona hit there was a 1-2 hour wait to get in there for drop off .

4th many who were selling are almost giving away for what is "clean " wood , many don't want that debris dropped off at local landfill due to possible cross contamination after it's hauled from drop zone and fill material ( soil , garbage , metals Etc.) Mixed in .

5th CBRM dropped the ball on disposal of this material , had they set up the industrial wood chipper unit , from day one it could went straight to bio mass instead of clear cutting and dropping off trailer loads of fresh cut compared to storm clean up .

6th it is a complete PITA just going in that facility to drop off normal sorted materials , when contractors come in and drop off job site un sorted materials even tho they are charged a fee , it's never sorted and simply dozed over . Household is free but must be sorted . 2 sets of rules in that place .

Simply put there is surplus of free or very cheap firewood across the municipality just about everywhere you drive here , no one wants go into a place that regularly gives free flat tires and your licence plate tracked on your monthly visits . You be surprised the amount of arguments there on daily basis , I 'm there myself enough to see what takes place . CBRM simply wants someone to bail them out for inactive status to deal with this issue from day one .

Hope this clarifies a few questions .

How is it that with all the climate change, green energy worriers in the world today that this hasn't been hauled away to be used for biomass energy?

Biomass electricity generation accounts for roughly 3-4% here? They out chopping young fir and spruce down by the hundreds of cords yearly and shipping some if not most overseas. Then all this extra windfall from mother nature gets wasted for the most part its gross.I have to think we can do better

It's trees that are most effective at reducing carbon pollution (if you're into that) so why are they chopping them?
