Joe how can you say coal is gone soon, Donkin got a 25 year lease for production for example and the only reason industrial areas have switched from coal to run industry is the abundance of cheap natural natural gas in cities to run manufacturing plants. Most of our powerplants are coal fired and no plans or cash to replace and if that supply of natural gas is cut off like in Germany right now its back to coa;l fired plants. It cost to much to change heavy industry over to solar or whatever from nuke plants , coal or oil .It seems to me the only place the libs wanna shut coal down is in alberta along with oil and the oil from saudi to que definitly aint bein shutdown cause theres no votes in that....Anyway we'll never see a large scale shift to ev in our lifetime its to much money and far more destructive on the planet than oil is imo.IT'LLe way to many mines in north america for the activists and overseas with all the warlords and huntas gov the supply of minerals wont be smooth or profitable. In my opinion hydrogen vehicles is the way to go but the problem is when ever someone comes up with good cheap tech they die lol...Not enough money for the rich.Anyway thats my opinion on ev and the green shift
Real easy gone world wide by 2040 and gone in canada by 2030 are the mandates in place
See what alberta has done and NS power is on the same route by 2030
On donkin mine worked there for a year setting up the first coal clearance system with my crew so the development could continue . The old TBM machine would cut a 25 foot diameter hole in solid rock and install circular arches Scary stuff. It is a death trap which is why devco bailed from it and lets talk leases devco had a 100 year one and look where that is Means nothings and every day I pray for anyone working underground there and we were under federal safety requlations not the poor provincial ones or owned by americans
Best thing could happen is it closes for good no one needs those jobs believe me
Cheers
Alberta will phase out coal-powered electricity by early 2024, years ahead of the 2030 target.

How we left it
What they are in now sorry not for me or any coal miners that know different Under water for years after devco allowed it totally flood with salt water and it shows big time in the poor support condition and exposed roof now
China isn't gettin rid of their coal anytime soon and as a former miner you know all about Donkin so no argument there but to me unless they put the tech and money into hydrogen power for cars and tractors, then batteries are just another rich folk lookin to get richer scheme.Battery power isn't the way to go to big a carbon footprint with mines and disposal so we'll see how it all plays out if we live that long .. The carbon tax is a scam nothin more and now with another increase up goes the cost of livin so ya better get some cameras to cover your gardens.

I cannot worry about china only canada and really only NS power and NS . My fear there is they will not be able to meet the deadline and have to start buying power and our rates will go even higher than they are now I would love to see hydrogen powered also but know very little about it at this stage
The one that gets me about Donkin is there is 100 years of coal there based on devco's production rates in the 80's and NS powers usage then but NS power didnot want it since the sulphur content was too high and the biggest reason they say Devco pulled out of the new mine and now all of a sudden 38 years later it is OK to burn Where did all this bad sulphur go
Ok now cause the feds don't own it but yanks and the province does and could not careless Politics at it's finest
Cheers
As long as the liberals stay in power our Country will continue to erode. If they stay in power we will have more to worry about than just losing our guns
Well I know people do not want to hear this but I think we may be on the downward curve as far as firearms go. Hearing from a couple guys who stopped going to shows and are now considering dumping, packing it in. Very difficult lately sourcing supplies, and the money is an issue for many. Seen yesterday Federal 210 primers, one pack $80. Paid $5.99 four years ago. I believe we only got half of our members that resigned at our club this year. The whole thing sickens me.
You may be right the hay day for firearms may be over but I think the biggest problem is a good many of our youth have no real interest in hunting and for some the only shooting they do is in their moms basement on their Xbox.Times have changed and the anti attitude towards guns is being pounded into peoples heads daily and unfortunately for us we are considered Neanderthals and are becoming extinct though speaking for myself as an old guy I m not tossing in the towel and will enjoy my hobby until I m gone.It comes down to adapting to the times ,basically for the time being anyway the days of heading to the range and shooting up a storm may be over at least for awhile do to the cost of factory ammo and reloading supplies at least for centerfire but shooting rimfire is still not that hard on ones wallet so there still are some options available. The big thing for us is that if we can finally get rid of Trudeaus Liberals at least we might have a reprieve for a few years without these idiots using us as a political pawn to further their agenda

I m on a Facebook group called early 20th century sportsman 1890 to 1930 where they post vintage pictures of hunters with their game and also pictures of hunters with their guns. One day it dawned on me is that if things keep going the way they are with firearms thats all future generations will have ,pictures of people with guns and we will be the people in those pictures. We will be an example of freedom lost

Our problem is not the youth that have a parent who hunts and shoots getting into the sport as at least they have a mentor to steer and encourage them if they have interest but the ones that don t have such a mentor and their number is growing .Without any exposure to the sport or even encouragement towards it ,it is harder to recruit more young people into it and that is where we will lose. There was a time when hunting season came around there was just as much excitement in the cities as there was in the rural areas.Hunting season use to make the news in those days in a positive way as the great migration of the city hunters to the hunting camp was an annual rite of manhood in those days.I can remember neighbours coming. home proud as hell with a deer strapped to the roof of the car as the neighbours gawked in awe with some hoping to to get a few tasty deer steaks. It is a sight you don t see much of today in the city as such displays are frowned on now.
First thing is where is the high side cookie sheet missing from under that loader mount You will thank me some day believe that
Yes sir Nice job Tim and so great to see Sadly I know of no one and with how hard it is to get components here word spreads real fast that I sell some so one would think I would including adults and even that has just about died since they closed the trap and skeet club Sell the odd stuff now to a few from NB Is he just depriming at this stage as shown or doing his own reloads The issue is today one picked up the torch for every 25 dying from old age
School is also a huge problem today OMG you kill things and eat them or shoot GUNS Bang labeled crazed cave man immediately and out of the social loop
Any I have shown in the last 20/25 years including my daughter who reloaded and shot a lot all gave it up from the pressure they got from friends and even teachers in school Told the story here many times about the daughters final paper she did in grade 12 ( 12 years ago now so worse) about hunting and shooting 258 kids asked and 6 had done some of it and only 4 wanted to try Sorry guys reality is that it is not cool any more or accepted in the next generation and with all the gun BS in the news all the time and fear being put out there even worse today Society has changed like I said other than western canada When I went they offered a night time fly tying, map and compass and a reloading course here PE teachers was into all of it big time and teached all three Yes sir would let me and many of the guys take my 12ga and ammo and keep it in my school locker so I could get after the geese as soon as the bell rang and no one said a word Imagine walking in school with a shotgun today Can we say swat team
THINK about that and then tell me the torch is being carried on in any amount that will matter some day Reminds me of rebuilding or working on a carburator years ago many could do it. Try to find someone today IMPOSSIBLE I have had mechancis pop the hood and say no fuel injection know nothing about those old things Our knowledge of these things will die with us
And don't get me wrong here I know that club you and kevin belong to and spend so much of your time getting kids into the sports is wonderful and doing a great job Problem is not enough of those in NS any more or guys left like you fellas
Cheers

Stop telling the truth or you are going to get labeled like me here You are 100% right and even a blind man can see it and the big problem is we have no clue how to change it at least I don't Believe this or not I have seen the coal mines have to close for days during the first week of deer season soince even with 750 men on staff at one mine they could not get enough out to run the place Many would save their 3 weeks vacation for deer season a year Who does that today Our camp had eight other guys with cabins all together easy 30 guys every weekend Today all camps gone but two and they are just summer homes now Sad but reality where I live in NS
Show me kids like us that cut grass shovelled show and did what ever to pay for that new gun we had on layaway and when that was paid we put another away Christ we don't even have a gun shop left to do that but we are doing fine Sure we are And it is old guys here that cut grass for people since they cannot live on just their pensions kids are too lazy

Hard to have a camp in Nova Scotia these days, we have accessed every piece of land for timber or building. Another building lot just sold next to my cabin. Been about 8 new homes go up in the past two years there. I think as a kid how many ran with skates to a field to clean of a patch of ice to play on. In twenty some years as I drive by ponds next to roads, never do I ever see kids playing on them any more. People are content just sitting in a house/ apartment playing with electronics. There is a lot of folks get no exercise at all. No wonder more and more are ill.

Agree 100% it my friend Funny my old pal and I were talking this winter about the skating The creek in dominion when it froze over would have 100's of adults and kids on it every day . One day this winter having our morning coffee we looked out and it was a sheet of glass and he said what the f'k happened Joe why is there no one out there skating and playing hockey like we did

I didnt put my cookie sheet under it as we were only doing a few hundred rounds lol
I told him if he wanted to shoot his 410 he best get busy loading because that was the only way he was going to shoot it. Once i showed him the "how to" he was off. I did it in stages as it was easier for him to learn. De prime then reprime, manually measure powder (didnt have the correct bushing) then add wad, add shot then crimp. Took us all day but he can shoot as much as he wants at the range Saturday, knowing he has to reload them after lol.
I do know his arm was tired from all the cranking.
He went from an outcast at school due to his challenges to a kinda neat guy who shoots real guns. His self esteem has been improving along with his confidence, he knows stuff the others don't and hes showing others what he has learned.
