Well the meat was bad and from what we could see someone gut shot him . Darned shame but things happen. At least I have a cool set of antlers. That deer will feed some of the wild critters for a while.

GUT SHOT...That's a Dam shame for sure. Sad demise to such a regal boy ! He's a beautiful buck man ! Hope he had the chance to pass on his genes in your area.

Last year I didn't go hunting due to my torn rotator cuff but I still got a deer. I used Hineu 5 ton , lol. The buck jumped a guard rail right in front of me, now you would think that it would be mangled but it made it off the 101 opposite side from where it was hit and into the woods.I looked for it but couldn't see it but I could hear it. So I went back to work this was about 9:45 pm and I had to go to Debert then back to Deep Brook then to Melbourne and back to Middleton to end my night .I went home to Auburn grabbed my rifle and hunting hat and jacket then went to find the deer. I found him in a swampy area in the ditch still alive so I had to call Lands and Forrests to come dispatch him. Surprisingly I only lost about 10 lbs of meat as one hind leg was broken and his hip.

tough critter - you'd of thought there'd be lots of jellied meet after a collision like that.

nice knife, BTW.
The knife was one of those milestone gifts from Michelin, made by Grohmann . I also have a set Grohmann kitchen knives that was my 25 year gift from 2003 I had 25 years in at that time.

I always buy their seconds and they are just fine and 1/2 the price most times
Yes I have three. All are seconds. If they weren't marked you would never know there is anything wrong with them. I love the way they fit in my hand.

I'm arguing with myself right now about buying another one of theirs that's almost identical to a knife I lost about 20 years ago. But I need another knife like I need another hole in my head. 😊

You may laugh but the last 15 years or so I have been adding one to wedding gifts with what the mrs buys for the couple This is for guys I know either hunt or fish and it is too funny the comments the bride makes but the groom just smiles and winks :p

I took the knives at every 5-year anniversary. The only time I didn't, was 15th or 20th year ??? ... I took the barometer. I still have, and use, all the Grohman knives. The barometer is in my garage.

Well I rough scored the antlers and got a score of 190 3/8 . Now I wish he was alive when I saw him . Oh well maybe I will see one bigger, lol . I probably messed up on the score but that rack is way larger than both my 10 point racks and the 8 point rack that I had given to one of my grandchildren and she lost it so I can't compare it.

HW...google up B & C scoring sheet...it'll show you the exact locations for your measurements.
Note.. when you measure the circumference of the main beam in those places between the tines...you use the smallest circumference you have there...not the biggest. Critical to get you main beam line evenly as you can as you pass thru the tines base.
** they use a pc of bicycle brake cable for this...it lays real good along the beam outside of the tine...mark it with a pencil...then take that measurement from the pencil mark to the tip of the tines !

IF...your close at all on his measurements...I think that This guy needs to be scored for the NS Record book.

There's a list of official scorers through out NS. You can likely find one that's close to you on the Big Game Society's FB page.
You can also take him to the Sportsman's Show in March...free entry all weekend as a contributor, get him scored for a small fee...it's recorded and you're in the draw for the prizes ! There's always one for the biggest entry for the year too !

This is wayyy KOOL !
