in the Traps and Snares section of the hunting summary booklet for 2012, page 34, numbers 10 and 11:

"10. No person shall set or maintain a trap or snare for squirrels
or weasels during the month of March in any year, except a
snare of 20 gauge or smaller wire, a rat trap or a box trap.

11. No person shall set or maintain a trap for mink during the
month of March in any year, unless the trap is at least fifty
percent submerged in water or is a box trap."
why are these restrictions there? I don't see why it would matter if you used a 110 or 120 conibear on land, or any other legal trap or method during the month of march, unless there's a special reason for them to put this weird restriction for just one particular month? can anyone explain this? it just peaked my interest a bit.

Well i'm not 100% sure but I've caught bobcats in 110's and 120's set for mink before and the season for bobcats is over at the end of February. So I would guess this rule is to prevent accidental catches in March. Not sure if thats why but thats my guess.
