People can’t always do what they want for a job. I wanted to play ball for a living but never made it to the big show and it wasn’t from a lack of trying!
You have to do something you like or it can be miserable. I spent 39 yrs for one employer, kinda, first we were Hfx Transit, then metropolitan authority, then metropolitan authority commission transit division, then metro transit, then back to Hfx Transit. Millions of $$$ in costs every time name changed!
Mainly worked as a mechanic, supervisor for a few yrs then back to a mechanic, then union executive for maintenance dept for yrs, then back to a mechanic. Unions are great for the most part but I couldn’t handle fighting for lazy people who deserved to be fired.
Always intended to work until I was 60, but the work environment became so poisonous I left early, good pension tho 39yrs X 2% X ave of your best 3yrs and not capped at 70%, if you worked 50 yrs you would get 100%%. Plus pension is stacked no claw back when oas kicks in.
Lots of time to fish, hunt and play golf!!!!!!!!!
