For many people a dog is so many things ,

For us a dog is a family member
A dog is a companion
A dog is a friend who will never turn their backs on you like some people do
A dog is a traveller who always enjoys a adventure
A dog is laughter
A dog is there to great you at the door when you come home
A dog is a protector and watch over you
A dog is cuddler
A dog is there to cheer you up when things are not as they should be
A dog is always stealing your personal space
A Dog is for some people a Hunter in the fields or backwaters
A dog is loyal
A dog is always trying to steal your heart and give you theirs unconditionally
A Dog Truly has a Soul

Most important of all a dog relies on you to be there for them when they are in need of being looked after properly .

I post this after a very hard week of loosing my beloved Rottweiler just before his 7th birthday , as some already know on here he was just diagnosed with cancer , Sunday was his last great day before his spiral down turn very fast . Sunday he had great breakfast with some left over bacon and boloney that I got after my wife for giving him 😂😂 His normal routine to relax by our sides , go for a walk with us and his little brother , for a quick drive and then return home for a treat and a nap , supper then his usual play time trying wrestle the toys away from his little buddy .

Late that night his health turned for the worst and it began by next night he took a seizure before 12 pm just after going out side to do his business again from his meds , Tried call the Vet for Emergency call but no one will take after hour calls now due to short staff , By 4:40 am he passed in my arms after double seizure and several prior thru that long hard night for all of us , he did not recover from the last 2 , for him I was Happy it was over , For us I was beyond belief he was gone and still am beyond belief he has left so early with still being too young to go . I thought I was doing right by trying treatments and give him a little more time after diagnosis . All I know is a huge emptyness is now where he once was in our lives .

He went every where with us 5 provinces , Hikes including a 20 km round trip into the North River big falls that was at times very intense even for us but he did it and slept good but he loved the defending us from every squirrel we came across 😂😂.

Even in his darkest hours he insisted to be by our bed where he roamed many a night from his own custom made bed to the mat next to my side . Yesterday we laid him to rest behind the hillside in the yard where we will build a flower garden as memorial for him , free to chase the birds as he defended his yard from all who were not welcome in his mind . A few from this very site have met him and seen he was a gentle beast who if he knew you were trust worthy he gave his affection in return .

Give your 4 legged companions the love and respect they deserve and they will give memories that last your lifetime . This one is for you Tyson my friend and sidekick and last but not least our Family member

Oh Walter I am so sorry to hear this . He was just in the prime of his life. Your post says it all what is a dog and agree with you one thousand percent
Mine have always just been my best friend and part of the family. We lost our third britt early at age 9 took a rare blood disorder they say from the flea /heart worm meds of all things and to this day blame myself and have never given it to my dogs since
The mrs and I still have not got over her and I will never forget her or what the vet said to this day. Well Joe you have spent 4000 bucks on her now she is just a dog is it not enough
I said I don't care what it costs she is like a child to me you fly the dam blood in from winnipeg you fool and you didnot nothing wrong giving him treatments I would have done the same F'k money that can be replaced
She passed one week later and one can believe this or not waited for me to come home to see her. I was away and rushed home when the mrs said she was talking a turn and died in my arms 10 minutes after I got there

My thoughts, prayers and condolences to you and your family. One has to own a dog to understand and I sure do and your post comes from the heart and teared me up thinking of that time and what you are going through right now hard enough losing them at old age but early is 1000x harder
PLEASE take care my friend

So sorry to hear, this is the worst part of having a family dog.
They are truly members of the family, we lost a Black lab a couple years ago and that was hard enough but I did not have the chance to say good by because I was way for work.
My condolences.

A fine tribute, Walter. Lost an amazing one in November of 2019. He was six months older than my daughter. Truest friend I have ever known. Took a lot out of me. Been thinking about getting another one lately. They give a lot more to your life than they take away. Truly a hard time, I'm sure.

Sorry to hear this. Its a very hard thing. We had a terrible time through covid with our big friend. Vets were not interested in providing any help. I built ramps after his back end went. Went three months with a split grocery bag under his back end to carry him as only his two front legs work. Never so disgusted how his last days were. The vets can all kiss my?They are family, way to young Walter. I did the same, buried my buddy in the back yard with his toys, and my old hunting hat. He is not far away.

I had to put my little dog "Vern" down on 29th May, 2012. He was almost 15 years old and spent nearly every day of his life with me. Had him in the tree stand, deer blind and he even waited in the truck while we were bunny hunting. Not sure exactly what the problem was but he was having seizures which continued to get worse. The vet recommended I consider his quality of life so I made the decision and to this day it was the hardest thing I have ever done. I still think about him every day and every Xmas his ornament goes on the tree. He was my buddy and I miss him.
Take care my friend.

We had 2 Yorkies for the longest time, and had one put down in 2020, and the last one put down Sept 2021. Who would think such a small dog would leave such a huge hole in your heart ??? We got another Yorkie, and the Mrs. just came home with that Frenchie a month ago, so hopefully they will live long lives and out live me.

Funny you mention that, we have a few hanging on our tree. I said to my new dog (the small pony) at Xmas, you don't want your picture hanging on the tree, that's not good.

Our Pomeanian and Chocolate Lab both have X Mas ornaments and the Pom has large blanket with her actual Picture used to generate the image. Large Tattoo of my Lab on my forearm to boot

My heart hurts for you and your family Walter.
They become a bigger part of your families life than most people ever will ! Your heart and mind will never abandon them and their cherished memories.
From this moment on every time you post in a thread...it'll be Tyson's name we see up front. That will give pause to us all...thru you..even if we never met him.
Don't be sad he's gone...be glad you had each other.
Best regards bud....Kevin

Walter, I am sorry to hear about the lost of your buddy. You and your family will miss him everyday. It is especially difficult when you’re expecting him to come running out to greet you as was his habit or time for your daily walk. Believe me when I tell you your friend will always be part of you and your family as the life you all shared together is precious. Each member of your family will have their favourite memories which will be shared time and again. Take care. Henry
