My wife is a senior stick curler with a dream to win the Canadian Stick Curling Championship. Three years ago her partner and her won the Provincial Women's Champion ship and advanced to the Maritime Championship, winner would advance to the Canadian Championship. When stepping on the ice to play the final game for the Maritime title she slipped and fell on the ice breaking her leg . She had to have plates and screws installed just below the knee cap . Her partner got a substitute player and went on to win. Last year my wife and her partner again won the Provincial and the Maritime Championships and advanced to the Canadian Championship, but due to Covid they could`t attend. This year once againthey won the N.S. Provincial Championship and were to play this weekend in Wolfville for the Maritime Championship. She fell again before the game and again broke the same leg again and her partner got a substitute player to take her place and again won the Maritime Title and will now play for the Canadian Title at end of month in Naniamo BC.
Three years, three chances, a lot of practice, a lot of games and a lot of tournaments and can`t get to that final game. That`s tough luck
