Well another Down pour and high wind Event is on our way , and with no frost in many places there will be some flooding in the usual places and not so usual places . Many are still not fixed up from Fiona as we all can still see tarps on roofs , homes still need repairs , it's been tough winter for those people .

My biggest damages are fallen trees this yr , makes good for fire wood but same time it's still time consuming with luck not as costly as has been for some .

Our winters have gone from snow in mid to late Oct. to most times now Dec.or January , no freeze overs stay in place , Spring like temps coming right after a good snow fall and gone in days , maybe a week . Northern communities like always still get the snow more than lower part of the Cape . Their big issue is wash outs now , more intense rains and aging ( just about everywhere now ) infrastructure not holding up these 100 yr storms that come in now yearly .

100-130 km winds for the Cape depending on location , heavy rains up to 50 mm are more normal now than yrs prior , when snow storms do occur here it's mixed precip and heavy to remove , slushy at times just down right miserable to remove .

Yes it's part of climate change but our planet has never stopped with climate change , it's bedn happening for eons of time , political figures try to say man is the issue , yes and no We are helping the planet speed it up but the Earth itself is quite capable of looking after itself . Just look at scientific evidence of last Ice Age the planet changed the climate with out any evidence of man whats so ever or interference from us and still it survived and rejvenated it self once again on it's own .

Coastal erosion has taken place again since the planet emerged , shaping the land scape as it wished , continents have been coastal eroded as they have been formed and land masses pushed while doing so .

This is only the tip of why we in our area are experiencing now different weather patterns , the change of the Jet stream as well causes a big part for us , we are lucky now , yrs back massive snow storms 2-3 a week of 20-40 cm was normal , huge snow dumps everywhere still melting till May or June in some places , And yes I can remember a June snowfall .

On other side we are not so lucky with this newer style winter , cause the storms have gotten more intense , more violent and more damages . Same token people need to be more prepared and stop taking for granted everything and start looking after themselves better . Some simply sit back and don't do anything , and it does not take money every time to simply get up and trim a tree , or fasten things down or simply take apart other things and put in a safer place , simple things don't take money but it does take effort and there lies a bigger problem they hope someone else will pick up after them and bail them out for simple lack of a little effort and time getting things done .

Not calling anyone out on here , we can all help if possible but then again the help must be appreciated and accepted by those needing it .

Anyways stay safe and hunker down it's gonna get nasty out there.

Yup ... Bridgewater is in heavy down pour and wind mode right now. I fully believe in pole shift and earth wobble. I am not convinced that electric vehicles and carbon tax will rectify this ... or even slow it down. The government knows this, as scientists have proved the pole shift theory ... but the slime balls in government will try anything to suck the last dollar out of a fella.

I heard Bill Gates bought and moved the pole :) to control the climate Want to talk last dollar picked up four new pair of compression socks yesterday doc ordered for me since I tear up about 4 pair a year in the garden and yard
Girl puts them on the counter and says you owe $500 bucks I said what well they are now 125 a pair with tax they were 59 Like sweet jesus dear they are four pairs of socks but they are sigvaris brand she says Like that means something to me

What ever comes in weather I am ready now 100 kms and 2" of rain sadly is becoming a normal day around here
I recorded 162 kms in the yard with the big one so know my greenhouses etc can take 100 plus no problem and set up now to handle any water that comes in. Last week had over 30 gallons up the chimney clean out vs 3 gallons ( the most ever ) in the past. The days of bailing by hand are over set up a small drill operated pump to drain and so far working perfect but man the water table is high I have a 200 foot 6 foot deep french drain with two 4" discharge pipes and they have been full pipe for weeks now

IMO we will see two changes here however soon one what the insurance companies will still cover us for and changes to the building code. Talking to a guy maybe two weeks ago and he says after two claims with water damage the insurance will not cover him any more for any water damages and forget any damage from trees if with in a certain distance to you home

Rain just started here

I think its the age of the stunned. There is no preventative maintenance, no one care about your neighbors etc. Its raining here and a little wind. The neighbor puts there garbage out along road side. The bags were on the road basically. The school bus comes and instead of going around drives through them all. The garbage is now everywhere. Wind is blowing it into peoples yards. The one who puts the garbage out shuts the curtains while I pic it up. Our streets are littered every week by people who don't pick up flyers, they drive over several of them in there drive way every day. Stunned or slobs. When a storm is forecast they do nothing, not even a yard clean up, trampolines up against sheds, vehicles etc. No wonder insurance is high. A new breed of people that cannot will not do anything. When we bought our house there were few trees. I planted trees along the front and down both sides. Feel some good now having them become mature and block the debris that neighbors leave laying around. I daily check my buildings and roofs for repairs prior to storms and after, and make sure nothing is out side. Todays world is sure in a sad state with the new breed of people.

When we bought our house the walk up out of the basement was left open on the back, just the poured cement foundation and an exterior drain. When we would get serious rain in winter months I would sit nervously watching the drain not take the water away fast enough. After several years of watching and worrying about water I called a cement guy to come and cut my cement for a door casing. I framed the exterior walkout to the house as a add on, I can't think of any addition I have done that was such a good idea. No more water, or worry, I even got a wood room now for easy access of the rec room. Every thing is dry. I also use it as an area to clean rifles as its separate from the house and has a large sliding window for exhausting fumes. Water with no place to drain, or draining backwards sure can cause a headache and damages.

The age of the stunned is so right. I just left for town and got back, damn power line guys had their trucks on side of the road ready to get up in a boom lift to prune branches around the lines. Like seriously??? You never heard the warnings all over the radio etc? What are you gonna do in a boom lift in 110 kph winds? They left, 1 hour drive back to their shop. What a waste of resources

You nailed it. It is the same here before the last big blow I am out for days puitting stuff away, screwing things down etc etc the idiot guy 3 homes down with stuff all over the place does nothing. In the end the stuff is all over the place in every ones yard and I am postitive that is where the 8 foot table came from that went through the plastic in one of my greenhouses costing me a grand to replace
They just don't care it seems Same guy was the one a piece of his tin shed roof went through another one of my greenhouses about two years ago and the idiot comes over looking for his roof panel. I said yep I seen it laying on the floor of my greenhouse after it went through the roof where is it now he says I tossed it I said
You should have taken it over since you knew it was mine no I said I should have called and reported it why did you not do that that is what I have insurance for and he leaves pissed

I hear you. When I bought the home here nice dry basement not finished and no history of water issues they said and everything freshly painted so one could see nothing and since the guy I was buying it from lived next door I didnot think he would lie
Well about 8 months later had water coming in every crack and seemed from water trapped around the house
Got a back hoe in and no weeping tile all around only on one corner and run off 10 feet with a piece of old conveyor belt over it
We dug up around the entire house installed the weeping tile and put in this 6 foot deep 200 foot french drain with like 4 feet of gravel
Like you best money I ever spent Problem solved other than this chimney clean out which I have done everything I can think of to stop ( dug up three times ) but can't but it never runs into the basement so I am ok with it. I even poured cement down the chimney from the roof and capped it with lead . What it is they left a 2x4 in the footer which rotted over the years and I cannot get at the gap so the water come up the clean out not down

I often worry about water intrusion in my basement as i installed big O pipe rather than perforated solid pipe around my footings when i built. My perimeter drain empties about 200' away from my house down into the woods and im always taking a peek during storms like today, never much water leaving the pipe but basement is always dry.

That is yet another reason why I love being surrounded by woods!
I've tried talking the misses into selling this place and move out to the cottage more times than I can think , being empty nesters now , its the hour plus drive to and from thats a killer , in stormy weather she would curse it , plus extra gas, repairs but no damm mortgage any more , on our own power source , but no internet out there , pros to living there and no damm neighbors ! Weather wise is a challenge out there due to snow removal on main road , sometimes it's 3-4 days b4 plows come thru from Either DOT depot . By then roads are a mess .

The garbage that blows around now is unreal theres a derelict house not far from me every storm its blowin debris from it all over the neighborhood.Somebody bought it they were workin on it then stopped just before winter so i don't know if its abandon or they are from away and went back. The winds we get now are unreal i watched a national geo show about the weather ,man and the environment it said its not oil or coal thats the worst culprit in adding to the effects of weather change. Its the big commercial fishing outfits which shocked me but since the modern fleets with the big nets, dragging the bottom, long linining and over fishing. They were saying in the 50's when dragging started that once vibrant areas with plenty of fish were turned into deserts from over fishing today..
Anyway that is some of the take from the show along with where the gear goes in the ocean when it breaks away from the boats .I found it pretty interesting and i know alot of guys who fish who say its gettin harder and harder to find them so there might be a little bit of truth there. With the way the ocean is warming and adding to our weather woes..

I know what you mean. Gotta make it comfortable for the wives! My place is at the end of a paved road with lots of nice houses on it but when you get to the end you are on my driveway. I can see the next door neighbour's roof in the winter when the leaves are off from my 2nd floor but that is it. If it was just me I would live in a one room cabin on my woodlot and go completely feral! Might come out now and then for salt and coffee!
